Ahmed Kano—whose full name is Ahmed Mubarak Al-Mahaijri, also known as Ahmed Mubarak Kano (born February 23, 1985, in Sur, Oman)—is an Omani footballer. He began his football career and became an international player in 2003. He possesses extensive experience, having played for numerous Gulf clubs: four in Saudi Arabia, two in Qatar, one in Kuwait, one in the UAE, and two in Oman. He currently plays for the Omani club Al-Orouba. He also has significant international experience, having represented the Omani national team in seven Gulf Cups and two AFC Asian Cups. He participated in three World Cup qualification campaigns—though he never reached the tournament itself, with his best achievement being reaching the fourth round of qualifiers—and took part in four AFC Asian Cup qualification campaigns.

Clubs He Played For

He began his career with the Omani club Al-Orouba before moving to the Saudi club Al-Wehda, where he played for only four months. He then transferred to the UAE club Al-Ain, playing there for half a season. In 2005, he moved to the Qatari club Al-Rayyan, playing there for two seasons before transferring to another Qatari club, Al-Sailiya. After playing for Al-Sailiya for two seasons, he moved to the Saudi club Al-Ahli for a single season. He then transferred from Al-Ahli to the Saudi club Al-Fateh, where he spent one season and played 21 matches. Subsequently, he played for the Kuwaiti club Al-Nasr for one season, followed by a stint with the Saudi club Al-Ettifaq, where he played 23 matches. He then returned to the Omani league, joining Fanja; he stated that this return was motivated by a desire to remain in the national team squad. He played for Fanja for one season before returning to his original club, Al-Orouba, in the 2014 season. Club Career

He began his career with Al-Orouba in 2000, competing in the Omani League, the Sultan Qaboos Cup, and the Omani Super Cup over two seasons. During this time, he scored seven goals and consistently finished on the podium.

After a brief stint with Saudi Arabia's Al-Wahda, where he played in the Saudi Premier League, he moved to Al-Ain. There, he competed in the UAE League—finishing as runner-up—and won both the UAE President's Cup and the UAE Federation Cup. He also played in the AFC Champions League, helping his team reach the final after defeating China's Shenzhen Ruby, though they ultimately lost the title to Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad.

He then moved to Al-Rayyan, competing in the Qatar Stars League and finishing fourth. He won the Emir of Qatar Cup after his team defeated Al-Gharafa on penalties. He also reached the final of the Sheikh Jassim Cup but finished as runner-up after his team lost to Al-Sadd.

Subsequently, he joined another Qatari club, Al-Sailiya. Although the team finished eighth in the league, he managed to score four goals. He participated in the Emir of Qatar Cup (where the team was eliminated early) and the Sheikh Jassim Cup. He reached the final of the latter for the second time in his career but lost to Al-Gharafa in a thrilling match; he scored his team's opening goal before being sent off in the 56th minute, marking his second runner-up finish in the tournament (having previously finished second with Al-Rayyan).

Finally, he moved to the Kuwaiti league to play for Al-Nasr, where he made 19 appearances and scored four goals, though he did not win any titles with the club. He subsequently returned to the Saudi league, this time joining Al-Ahli. He played 10 league matches—receiving six yellow cards—and reached the Crown Prince Cup final with the team, though they ultimately lost to Al-Hilal and finished as runners-up. He also competed in the King's Cup, but his team was eliminated early.

After one season, he moved to Al-Fateh, playing in the Saudi league and the Crown Prince Cup (where his team was eliminated early). He made 22 appearances across competitions but did not win any titles. He then transferred to Al-Ettifaq, finishing sixth in the league. His team was eliminated in the first round of both the Crown Prince Cup and the King's Cup of Champions. In the AFC Cup, he scored against the Indonesian side Arema and reached the semi-finals, though the team was ultimately knocked out by Kuwait SC. In total, Kano played 39 matches for Al-Ettifaq across all competitions, scoring three goals.

The following season, he returned to the Omani league after an 11-year absence, joining Fanja. He helped the team finish as league runners-up and win the Sultan Qaboos Cup by defeating Al-Nahda. He also competed in the Omani Professional League Cup (reaching the semi-finals) and the AFC Cup (where the team was eliminated in the Round of 16). Kano scored only one goal across all competitions during his time with Fanja.

He is currently playing for Al-Oruba—the club where he began his career—and has scored three goals so far; his third league goal came against Al-Nasr, helping his team secure the top spot in the league standings.
