الأستاذ ربيع عنبر العريمي
Rabee bin Anbar Al Araimi is a researcher and educator who has gained a reputation in the field of Omani maritime history, especially in the state of Sur. He enjoyed a prominent position among educational and cultural circles, where he was nicknamed “Aostad (Teacher)” in honor of his efforts and his academic and professional standing.
His efforts in education and culture
Rabie Al-Araimi began his professional career in the State of Kuwait, where he spent a period of his life there. After returning to the Sultanate of Oman, he joined the education field and worked as an art education teacher in schools in the state of Sur, a field that gave him the opportunity to merge his passion for Omani heritage and arts with his educational mission.
In addition to his educational work, he emerged in the cultural field as a lecturer and researcher in the maritime history of the state of Sur:
He gave lectures at Sur University on Omani maritime history, reviewing important historical artifacts and slides, and exhibiting rare photos and valuable tapes dating back to Sultan Qaboos’ visits to Sur in 1996.
His public participations and events
In 2016, he gave a lecture as part of the “Cultural Week” activities at Tire College, during which he highlighted the city’s naming, its strategic location, and the importance of Khor Al-Batah. He also reviewed the heritage of wood, sails, and local marine crafts.
In October 2023, he participated in the “October of Urbanism” event with a marine tour organized by the General Directorate of Housing and Urban Planning in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, where he reviewed the maritime history and architectural details in the state of Sur.
Documenting historical systems
Through his research, he focused on collecting ancient oral narratives from local sailors, and using them as an essential part of projects documenting the maritime history of Tire.
He curated archival displays including rare recordings and exclusive photographs linked to the past of Omani fishermen and sailors.
