The Khor Al-Batha Bridge project is the first of its kind as it is a suspension bridge, consisting of a suspended iron structure with a load capacity of 3 tons, and is 6 meters above sea level at high tide.
Sur is divided into two parts: the center of the Wilayat of Sur, and the Al Aija area, which used to be reached via a 12-kilometre road. However, recently a 170-metre-long bridge was built connecting the two areas, called the Khor Al Batha Suspension Bridge.
It was designed for the passage of cars and pedestrians, shortened the distance between the two areas and became one of the tourist attractions in the region.
It was named Khor Al Batha Bridge because it passes over the creek that bears the same name, and the ships that the people of the Wilayat of Sur have been famous for manufacturing throughout the ages are docked there. The bridge has become an artery that connects the two poles of the city.
