Sur, September 30 (ONA) — The Sur Green Initiative was held today in the Wilayat of Sur in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate under the title “Enhancing the knowledge and skills needed to build green cities capable of adapting to climate change”, which was organised by the Sur City Learning Committee in partnership with Oman LNG and Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO).
The initiative aimed to introduce the National Strategy for Zero Neutrality and the role of the Sultanate of Oman in it, and to support and follow up on projects and initiatives implemented by the relevant authorities in the state in order to achieve carbon neutrality, raise awareness of the importance of investing in renewable energy and the circular economy, increase the area of green spaces, encourage social responsibility and individual behaviors that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance cooperation and partnerships between the public and private sectors to adopt environmentally friendly and innovative solutions that reduce emissions and contribute to achieving sustainable development.
This initiative, which was sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, comes within the efforts of Sur City to learn and contribute to reducing the damage of climate change.
