Family Income Support Benefit Disbursement Begins
Omania
Today, the Social Protection Fund begins disbursing the family income support benefit for the month of September 2024, as part of the social protection system.
Ibrahim bin Mahmoud Al-Baridi, Director of Communication and Media at the Social Protection Fund, said that the benefit will be transferred to the bank accounts of the registered beneficiaries of the social security category, noting that the family income support benefit will replace social security pensions, and that the benefit dues for previous months will be disbursed retroactively after settlements are made at a later time.
Al-Baridi said – in a statement to the Oman News Agency – that the number of social security cases that were transferred from social development was 79 thousand cases, and 25 thousand cases were registered for the family income support benefit, and the number of those who met the conditions for the benefit was 12 thousand and 732 cases.
He stressed that registration of the remaining categories eligible for the benefit will be available next October and will continue until the end of 2024, explaining that there are registered cases that require correcting their data, and direct communication will be made with those cases via text messages.
The Family Income Support Benefit Program provides financial support to families in the Sultanate of Oman whose conditions require care and support. It aims to improve their living conditions, as eligibility for this benefit depends on the number of family members, their income level, and the earning capacity of its members.
The family support benefit includes the husband, wife, and non-working children up to the age of 26, and non-working daughters who have not reached the age of 40 if they are unmarried or divorced and have no children. Adopted children are considered as children in the formation of the family, and some categories that have been detailed in the executive regulations of the Social Protection Law are considered as family.
