South Al Sharqiyah Governorate signed a number of construction and investment contracts in the municipal sector for the years 2023 and 2024, as part of the activities of the Investment and Partnership Forum organised by the Department of Small and Medium Enterprises Development in partnership with the Governorate and Sur Industrial City (Madayn), under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Yahya bin Badr bin Malik Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah.
The construction projects included the construction of internal roads with a length of 149.2 km in the Wilayats of Sur, Al Kamil and Al Wafi, Jalan Bani Bu Hassan, Jalan Bani Bu Ali, and Masirah, with the aim of enhancing connectivity between the regions and achieving urban and economic development. It also included the development of the waterfront in the Wilayat of Al Ashkhara with an area of 74,172 m², which includes integrated service, entertainment and sports facilities to support tourism, in addition to the coastal road lighting project from Ras Al Hadd to Al Ashkhara, as well as improving mountain roads in the Wilayat of Sur in the areas of Qaab, Abbat, Al Manqal, and Al Jila village in the Wilayat of Tiwi.
The projects also included the rehabilitation and development of road paths in the Wilayat of Sur, and the development of Al Suwaih Park in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali by establishing tourist and service facilities, a children’s play area and camping, in addition to improving lighting in the Wilayat of Masirah by installing modern poles.
The contracts also included the development of the tourism facility in the Saiq area in the Wilayat of Al Kamil and Al Wafi, the Al Shamkhiya Multipurpose Centre in the Wilayat of Masirah to support cultural and social activities, and the design and implementation of the Al Mashayekh Falaj Park in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Hassan.
A contract was also signed to replace decorative lighting poles on the road leading to the old market in the Wilayat of Sur. The designs for the 1.9 km long Al Barr Trail and Walkway Project in the Wilayat of Sur are also being reviewed, which includes walking and cycling paths, as well as sports and recreational facilities.
Four investment contracts were also signed, including the establishment of a commercial residential project in Sur slaughterhouse, investment in part of Al Bar Park in the Wilayat of Sur, investment in Al Suwaih Park, and the establishment of a café in Al Ashkhara Park.
