Achievements of the Blessed Renaissance

Sur has received an ample share of advanced services and modern achievements befitting its standing as one of the major wilayas in the Sultanate. It was included in the project for developing Omani cities and urban centres, where the wilaya's main roads were paved, surfaced, lit and beautified, in addition to the development of the markets and horticultural works, the spread of playgrounds and public parks, the sewage network, and other beautification projects. In the field of health, we note the spread of health services from Sur Central Hospital, in addition to a number of health centres, and there is also a nursing institute. Likewise the spread of educational services in the Wilaya of Sur, where there are currently 26 schools, varying between boys' and girls', covering the needs of the wilaya's citizens at the three stages, in addition to the College of Applied Sciences, Sur University College, a vocational training institute and a nursing institute. There are a number of commercial bank branches, in addition to a branch of the Oman Housing Bank; 26 government institutions — general directorates and administrations — are spread across the Wilaya of Sur, all working to provide every central service to the wilaya's residents.
