Bilad Sur Fort

It lies in the Wilaya of Sur in the Al Sharqiyah region. "Bilad Sur Fort" is regarded as one of the most important forts in the wilaya, where this fort stands with its unique tower, surrounded by flourishing orchards of date palms. The fort was placed strategically inland, away from the sea, for protection against the invading tribes from the interior. This fort forms part of an integrated defensive network that originally comprised five forts and countless watchtowers, having been — formerly — the seat of the wali and a place for celebrating feasts and occasions.

It contains four towers: the Khandaq tower, the Jaalan tower and the Souq tower; as for the fourth tower, it differs from those three towers, that is, it consists of two storeys — the first storey reveals the outside of the fort from all directions — and the fort's wall rises 6 metres.
