Economic and Craft Activities in Sur

These are: fishing, textiles, agriculture, blacksmithing, goldsmithing, palm-frond work, carpentry and confectionery — some of the important traditional crafts in the wilaya.

Among its traditional industries too: the building of sailing ships of all kinds and sizes; the making of old traditional Omani doors with their well-known ornamentation, as well as their wooden windows; the crafting and making of khanjars (daggers) and women's jewellery, both old and modern; and the textile craft, the most important being: the izar, the sibaiyya, the shawadir and the Omani mats.

Among the agricultural products for which the Wilaya of Sur is known: wheat, barley, maize, garlic, onions, black-eyed beans, palms, lemons, figs, grapes, quince, mulberry (firsad) and zam.
