Awadh bin Hamad bin Hulais Al Sanani: born in the Omani city of Sur and still living in his town of Sur Al Afia. He learned singing and playing at the hands of his father, the late artist Hamad bin Hulais Al Sanani, and relied on himself in the early stages of his artistic life for training and development. His first song recordings were on the radio and television of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in 1971; he then returned home and worked within the Media Music Troupe in 1974 as a singer. He took part in many local and external occasions and celebrations, representing the Sultanate at cultural and singing festivals, then moved to work within the Eastern Troupe for Music and Folklore.

Among his most famous songs are "Zaman Al Bahr" (words by Ustadh Rabee Anbar, with a Shobani rhythm), "Ammat Al Aalam", "Atall Qaboos Alaina Fajran", "Dar Al Mazayeen" and "Ghardi ya Balabil".

The song "Ammat Al Aalam":

The flags have flown high, O Oman rejoice   Qaboos has triumphed and built up my country

And among us communism has no place   and you, O my country, rise to the heights

The song "Atall Qaboos Alaina Fajran" (words by Ustadh Abd Al Qadir Al Jilani)

Qaboos came to us with abundant good   the joy of victory, and truly a day of feast

So rejoice, O Oman, in the glorious era

The song "Dar Al Mazayeen" (words by Hamad bin Mubarak Al Mukhaini)

Greetings, O you who rise from Mazun   O Sur, home of the adorned

In you is beauty, O adorned abode   safe from the envious and the devils

O ship anchored in the sea   O radiant one at the sight of the orchards

O you walled with castles and forts   protecting you from the foes' cunning

How keen the honed edge of Al Hadd   your rampart, O my abode, the sharp divider of foes

The song "Ghardi ya Balabil" (words by Saleh bin Khadim Al Hashmi)

Sing, O nightingales

and chant, O birds

and rejoice, O city

your history has returned, O Sur
