Women's Dress in Sur

Women's dress in Sur is distinguished from the rest of Omani dress: it consists of the dishdasha, the basta, the dress known as the "qubaa dress", and finally the shadir al tarh.The material of the dishdasha varies, according to the pattern, into bumashata, qazrati and harqani. As for the basta, it is usually bumashata or black qazrati; the well-known black dress is made from a material called tasha mutra; and the last piece is the shadir al tarh, which is made by means of the spinning machine, with which the woman of Sur covers herself completely.
