Nakhoda Abdullah bin Rashid bin Saeed Al Sanani

Born in Sur, an experienced nakhoda with deep knowledge of the conditions of the sea and of maritime routes and passages. He spent nearly forty years as captain of several ships, sailing to the Gulf region, India, East Asia, Yemen and Somalia. He commanded five ships in succession, was a folk poet who inherited poetry from his father, and headed the customs of Sur for a long period.
