Nakhoda Hamad bin Ali bin Nasser Al Ghailani
Born in the Omani city of Sur in 1911 and died in 1993 in the Wilaya of Masirah. He was among the most famous navigators of the sons of Sur, of Oman and of the Arab Gulf. He and his brother Abdullah bin Ali bin Nasser Al Ghailani owned a number of ships, the most famous being:
1 = the ship " Yusr Al Khudr", of the sambuk type.
2 = the ship " Musaid ", of the boom type.
3 = the ship " Antar ", of the boom type.
4 = the ship " Al Abeesa ", of the sambuk type.
He visited many countries during his travels, such as Iraq, the Arab Gulf states, Iran, Pakistan, India, Yemen and East Africa, reaching as far as the Cape of Good Hope. He was knowledgeable in the sciences of navigation — measurement, astronomy and knowledge of countries.
