Sea captains
Nakhoda Khamis bin Khalfan bin Najim Al Oraimi
Born in the Omani city of Sur; his exact date of birth or death is unknown, but it is certain that Nakhoda Khamis lived in the 19th century. He travelled between Oman, Africa, Yemen, India and the Arab Gulf states. He owned a number of ships, most of them of the badan type, among them:-
1 = the ship "Al Somaliya", of the ghanja type. It sank in 1904 with three of his sons aboard, all nakhodas, in addition to 28 of the ship's crew and passengers.
2 = the ship "Wad Al Naqa", of the badan type.
