Nakhoda Khamis bin Mubarak bin Salem Al Fanna Al Oraimi
Nakhoda Khamis bin Mubarak bin Salem Al Fanna Al Oraimi: born in the Omani city of Sur in 1918 and died in 1979. Like his peers among the sons of Sur, he spent most of his life at sea, moving from one port to another between Iraq, the Arab Gulf states, Iran, India and East Africa. He was not content with his sea voyages but also undertook overland journeys into the jungles of Africa, reaching as far as Uganda. He owned a number of ships, built by the most experienced master builders in Sur or purchased for their proven quality. Among the ships he owned and sailed:-
1 = Al Tarrad, built by the master builder Wad Hassoun.
2 = Fath Al Khair, built by the master builder Mohammed bin Khamis Al Shaqqaq Al Oraimi.
3 = Al Amir, built by the master builder Saleh bin Hussein Al Shaqqaq Al Oraimi.
4 = Saad Al Razzaq, which he bought from Sheikh Mohammed bin Nasser Al Hashar.
