Nakhoda Mohammed bin Hamad bin Najim Al Ghailani: born in the Omani city of Sur, died in 2006. He commanded many Sur ships across the seas of the Indian Ocean to Iraq, the Arab Gulf states, Iran, India, Pakistan and East Africa. When the people of Sur decided to recover the ghanja ship Fath Al Khair after it had been sold to Yemen, Nakhoda Mohammed bin Hamad bin Najim Al Ghailani was charged with sailing it from Yemen to the city of Sur, in recognition of his navigational ability and great experience.

He is known as Nakhoda Mohammed bin Hamad bin Najim Al Ghailani, but very few know that Nakhoda Mohammed was nicknamed "the Lion of the Red Sea" for his boldness and his knowledge of the secrets and mysteries of the Red Sea.
