Sea captains
Nakhoda Nasser bin Ali bin Nasser Al Khaduri
Born in the Omani city of Sur in 1870 and died in 1962. One of the navigators recognised for their competence, experience and knowledge of the maritime sciences. He authored the book "The Mine of Secrets in the Science of the Seas", a comprehensive manuscript on maritime measurements, the calculation of longitude and latitude, the compass (the nautical "deera"), and the names of maritime places and locations. He corrected some of what appeared in the book "The Guide of the Perplexed in the Science of the Seas" by the Kuwaiti navigator Issa Al Qatami. He served as a master nakhoda on the ship "Qatim", owned by Nakhoda Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Mohammed bin Juwaid Al Ghailani, for 15 years, during which he made about 65 voyages to India alone. He then bought a number of ships, such as:
