Nakhoda Sheikh Hussein Al Junaibi Al Suri

Born in the Omani city of Sur; neither his date of birth nor death is known, but the period of his presence is certain, as indicated by the British Resident in Muscat, "David Seton", in the period from 1800 to 1808.

This Sheikh nakhoda commanded a fleet of Sur ships, sailing from India to Basra in Iraq laden with goods for the English and for merchants of Basra, when a combined force of Mullah Hassan, ruler of "Qeshm Island", and the Qawasim led by Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi attacked. The Sheikh nakhoda fulfilled his duty completely in making contact with Sayyid Badr in Muscat and the English, represented by the Resident in Muscat "David Seton", until the contacts were crowned with success: the people of Sur recovered their fleet, which had been detained in Ras Al Khaimah, along with the goods seized by Mullah Hassan. He and the nakhodas with him were able to deliver the goods to their owners and then return to Sur.
